This website describes a number of walks, mostly in the North
East of England. The walks are all illustrated with photographs, and a route
description is provided for each walk.
Most of the walks are circular, most are between 8 - 10 miles in length,
and ALL of them are moderate enough to be tackled by a group of retired
men, - the Grey
Panthers, who meet every Wednesday round the year to enjoy the scenery
of this part of the country as well as each other's company.

The list of walks has been sorted by approximate geographical
areas, - such as the North Yorkshire Moors,
Swaledale, Weardale etc. By selecting a walk title
from a list, you will be taken to a page where you can obtain a route description
and photographs of the actual walk. The route descriptions are simplified,
and you will need to use your Ordnance Survey map to complete the planning
of your walk.
You don't have to be super-heroes to tackle the walks, but they still require
the walker to be reasonably fit and healthy to undertake them. You must
ALWAYS respect the climate of this country, and the terrain involved. ALWAYS
wear appropriate clothing and footwear, and ALWAYS ensure that you have
a map and compass to hand and know how to use them.
The walks described have been undertaken in all seasons and
all weathers. Our walking group, the Grey
Panthers, walks round the year. We love the countryside, - hopefully
those who hike in our footsteps will also develop a love for the stupendous
countryside of the North East of England. We hope that YOU will try
some of the routes that we have walked, and enjoy them as much as WE have!
