Lonely Tree

Quite some memories associated with this photograph! We were out walking with friends near Malham Cove in late October / early November 1989. We had set out from Malham, and the walk returned via Gordale Scar, - just out of sight from where this shot was taken. The sun was beginning to set, and I happily framed this shot.

Five minutes walk away was the descent of Gordale Scar! As the light was fading, there was no turning back. So we all had to clamber down the face of the waterfall, - a vertical, 100 foot drop. THAT was not very nice!
