Sunset, Steetly Magnesite
On the Headland at Hartlepool is a factory which takes in vast quantities of sea water, extracts various mineral salts, and then disgorges its effluent back into the North Sea. This would make an unpromising photographic subject in full daylight, but on a summer's evening, - with a magnificent skyscape behind, the factory becomes a satisfying element in the overall landscape. Even the pipeline used to import sea water, built out on a special pier, contributes to the overall visual scene. |
