Stormy Evening, the North Gare

One April evening, a massive storm was brewing over Teesside. Very heavy clouds were building up, but this scene was taken just before the last rays of light had been extinguished by these clouds. Most satisfyingly, one of the last rays of light illuminated the couple surveying the beach before beating a hasty retreat.

The skyline shows the huge chemical industry associated with Teesside, - refineries, petrochemical complexes, and oil storage depots. Just to the right, but out of sight, is the Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station.
